SUNDAY 21st JULY

Unique to Cuba, Rumba is a meld of African rhythms and flamenco influences. Elements of rumba are commonly integrated into Cuban salsa. This workshop will help you to ground yourself to the beat of the music and develop your body movements.
12:10– 1:10 Orishas/Afro-Cuban (Open)
Popular Cuban dance is deeply rooted in African cultures and Salsa especially also incorporates styles from other genres, like the Orisha dance. Orishas are deities/gods that maintain the Earth and watch over the affairs of humanity. Each Orisha is responsible for different parts of nature and each one has their own specific music and dance. In this class we will learn some of these movements which will help to unlock the body and develop your musicality.
1:40 – 2:40 Salsa Suelta (Open) (At capacity)
Non-partnered dancing to help you move to the music and incorporate all of the Cuban rhythms into your salsa. This may be a little challenging for new dancers, but don’t let that stop you from giving it a try.
